September 4, 2009 One topic area of great promise for improving the responsiveness, reliability, safety and overall affordability of transportation to and from space is the field of supply chain management. Routinely associated with just the field of logistics, or even more narrow terms in overhead functions (such as "purchasing"), modern supply chain management science has evolved in recent decades to offer improvement paths across many more of the functions of a complex organization.
